NURSES A VOICE TO LEAD – A VISION FOR FUTURE HEALTHCARE
Dear colleagues and all nurses out there. I join hands with ICN and ICM to congratulate you on account of the International Nurses Week 2021. Nurses have been playing a vibrant role in saving lives as well as upholding health care system.
We are celebrating nurses week in a special way where we’re globally curved with the COVID-19 Pandemic. Everyday, the media highlights the pride of nurses courage, and dedication to patients despite the numerous challenges. I console with the families of our beloved nurses who paid the ultimate price with lives in the fight against the pandemic. Indeed a nurse deserves nothing less today and always.
Despites their role, nurses still suffer with challenges to mention few; UNDERSTAFFED, UNDERPAYMENT, UNDEREQUIPPED, ISSUES IN SCHEME OF SERVICES AND SCOPE OF PRACTICE, With Emphasis on specialization and stereotyping images.
I call the special attention of various stakeholders to continue finding solutions to these challenges and channel their investment to Nurses and Midwives who are the heartbeat of health Sector in order to improve healthcare and strengthen health systems.
Lastly, I send my deepest gratitude to the thousands of Nurses and Midwives that tirelessly deliver critical and essential services to the citizens of this country.
Good Bless You.
