WHAT IS NURSING TO ME

You are currently viewing WHAT IS NURSING TO ME

In my terms, nursing means compassion; empathy, and showing a display of kindness, love, and care.

Experiences as a student nurse.

As a student nurse, nursing has taught me a lot, from professionalism down to being selfless, I have had my good and few bad experiences, especially during clinical posting.

-Going to the theatre.

I’ve gone to the theater a few times, but there was a particular day, they had a caesarian section. It was my first time and it was a beautiful sight to behold.

-Going to the pediatric ward.

As funny as it may sound, this is my best ward in the clinic, there is this joy that comes whenever I am with kids, and seeing them recover makes me happy. I see myself practicing as a pediatric nurse😊.

One of the bad experiences I had was when I lost a patient at the male medical ward (That wasn’t the first time anyways) I felt emotional because I had such an experience when I lost my Dad, but it taught me something~Empathy~. Expressing empathy shows your patients that there has been someone who has been through their experience and survived it, it doesn’t mean that you have to bear your darkest secret to them.

My advice to my colleagues

Don’t compare yourself to other students.

Clinicals are a time for learning and experience, you don’t have to miss it.

Work hard, stay consistent and be patient.

Love yourself

Happy nurses week to every nursing student.
I’m sure you’ll make a great nurse.

Love and Light
